So its the first MM of the month and for July’s theme, Leanne has chosen the letter K.
Although known by many different names, including Chinese gooseberry and the bizarre “melonette”, nowadays in most of the world, it is known as a kiwifruit. The fruit is native to China, but its cultivation spread in the early 20th century to New Zealand where it was commercially grown. In 1962, New Zealand growers introduced the term “kiwifruit” to give it more market appeal and it is has since become the common name for this fruit.
